A title for Book 2

November 10th, 2013

After lots of to-ing and fro-ing and yes-ing and no-ing, we at last have a title for the second book in the Hidden series.

SUNKER’S DEEP.

What do you think? I liked it as soon as I saw it, and I like it more and more as time goes on. And it’s HUGE relief to have a proper name for it at last, so I can stop saying ‘Claw – um – Sunker – um …’

What’s NOT a relief is my keyboard. Yesterday I was cleaning my desk, which is one of those things I do between books, to clear my head of the last book and get ready for the next one. As part of the cleanup I turned my keyboard upside down and shook it to get some of the grunge out. Ever since then the keys have been sticking so I have to hit them really hard to make them work. I took all the keys off and cleaned out a ton of cat hair (most of it looking suspiciously like the late Miss Mouse) but it’s still sticking. Hmmm. Driving me crazy. Can’t type any more!

Glad to hear it, Io! So do I. AND I have a new keyboard, so will have to put up a longer post soon, now that I can type without tearing my hair out.

    Dear Lian
Sunker’s Deep sounds like the perfect title and is very unique.
So Today was the last Friday of Year 5 for me because we end of Thursday next week !
I just wanted to say thank you to my Lian ,you are my writing inspiration and I have found that you can really write anything because everything is possible. Thank you for the tips on writing and who to get rid of writer’s block ( which I have gotten a lot lately ) . I just finished a narrative for my English teacher and she believes that it is the best piece of narrative writing out of the whole class ! As well as being the best piece of creative writing I have ever produced. She asked how I did it and I told her that I was holding onto a writer’s hints and tips on writing novels . This also explains why I always end up with 5 pages instead of the 2 that my teacher gives us … So finally after knowing you ,Lian for 3 years ,I am thanking you for all of the creative ideas that have helped my writing improve . You really have inspired me to write with my heart , not my head .

    From Lilli ( Year 5 2013 )

    1. Lian says:

Congratulations on making it through Year 5, Lilli, and HUGE congratulations on your piece of narrative writing! Best you’ve ever done??? Best in the class????!!!!! Wow! [loud fanfare of trumpets, crumbhorns and cornets, with acrobats and tumblers standing on each other’s shoulders and applauding wildly]

I’m really glad that my hints and tips have been useful to you. I think you’re totally right about writing with your heart, not your head. The head comes into it when you edit, because then you have to make choices about what to leave in and what to take out, but it’s the heart that has the power of creativity – and also of course the heart tells you what you REALLY want to write about. And now of course, MY heart is feeling warm because of your nice comments. It’s my pleasure to help you, Lilli – and a pleasure to know you through this website. xxxx

    Dear Lian
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Congratulations on another fantastic year of writing and I am looking forward to Sunkers Deep ,I hope it is out soon ! I wonder when??

    From Lilli 😉

    1. Lian says:

Merry Christmas to you too, Lilli, and congratulations on doing so well at school this year. I hope you’re not serious about Sunker’s Deep – really, I’ve only just finished it and am now going over the publisher’s comments, fixing up problems. Then it has to go through the whole proofreading process, and getting a cover, and a hundred other things. Which is the long way of saying that it won’t be out until October 2014. They have to come out a year apart to give me time to write them!

  4. Evie says:

Hi Nat, good to hear from you, and thanks for the nice comments. I’m pretty excited about Sunker’s Deep too – I’ve just seen the rough version of the cover, and I think it’s going to be a good one. 🙂
