Listen to an extract of City of Lies!

August 26th, 2011

Claudia Black of Farscape fame narrated the audio version of Museum of Thieves. And now she has recorded Book 2: City of Lies! She has done another brilliant job and you can listen to an extract from the very first chapter here.

I only just found this, and it was so exciting to listen to it! Let me know what you think.

Meanwhile we are getting closer and closer to the launch of the book at the beginning of October! I’ve been busy working on the two Tasmanian launches – one in Hobart on Sunday October 2nd, 11 am at the Baha’i Centre, and another in Launceston on Saturday October 15th, 11 am at Fullers Bookshop. Everyone is welcome!

Redcliffe House

This week I was suddenly sick of winter, and sick of staring at the computer, so on Tuesday morning I packed up my bags and my favourite pillow and headed up the east coast of Tasmania to Swansea for a couple of days.

I stayed at Redcliffe House, which is very close to where my father used to live when he was a boy.

Looking across Moulting Lagoon to Freycinet

The weather was perfect, and the paddocks were green. On Wednesday I drove up past Moulting Lagoon to Freycinet Peninsula, where I climbed Mt Amos …

Nearly to the top of Mt Amos

… or rather nearly climbed Mt Amos. I reckon I was about 20 minutes from the top when I turned back.

The wind was blowing a gale and the whole thing got a bit too steep and scary. I felt as if I was about to be blown off the face of the mountain.

I came most of the way down on my backside – but still felt very proud of myself.

Freycinet has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world – I haven’t been there for years and had forgotten how lovely and dramatic it was.

Scribbly gums on Mt Amos

On the way down I took some photos of scribbly gums.

    Dear Lian,
I am a teacher at Spreyton Primary School. I am planning to start reading Museum of Thieves to my grade 5/6 class next term. We are going on a camp to Hobart in October and I was wondering if there was any chance you would be available to meet us somewhere for a few minutes on Wednesday 12th Oct so they could say hello to you? e.g. we will be at the Botanical Gardens at lunch time or at Salamanca after 4pm. I know you are busy preparing for you book launch but thought it would be a great surprise for the kids if it could be pulled off! Aileen

I’m glad you liked it, Hannah. Claudia Black does such a good job of reading that I found myself listening to it with bated breath, wondering what was going to happen next! 🙂

Yeah, Claudia Black does do a great job reading the book.

  4. Claudia Black! I love her. I think I’ll get this and listen as I paint.
