Keepers dress-up competition – the first entry

December 11th, 2012

Hooray! I am happy, Miss Mouse is happy, even the dead fish behind the sofa has a smile on its face. We have received the very first entry for the dress-up competition! And it comes from … LOUD DRUM ROLL … Lily, in northern Tasmania!

Thank you, Lily. And I can’t wait to thank everyone else who is on the brink of sending in their own entries. (Is that a broad enough hint? Hm?)

But for now, you’ll be wanting to see what Lily has sent. And it’s extremely interesting. Firstly, it’s a series of photos that tell a story. (If you’ve read the rules here, you’ll already know that a series like this only counts as one entry.) Lily pointed out in her email that these scenes aren’t really from any of the books – it’s more of a random idea she had. (Which is fine by me – it’s the characters that are important in this competition.) And she hasn’t dressed up a lot – the story is more in the acting than the costume. But it’s very effective.

'Do not speak!'

'Too bright for Concealment by Imitation of Nothingness! What will I do?'

'I'll have to run! HURRY, TOADSPIT!'

'I am defeated.'

So here we are – entry number one. And I think you’ll all agree that Lily has set a very high standard.

I loved posing for these photos. I wanted to try to react the peril behind Dirty Gate, but how could any normal human match your magnificent detail? I don’t have a blue smock, but grey was for me a colour suiting Goldie, just like blue. Although she wore grey in Care, I felt naturally Goldie in that grey dress. The emotions on my face were everything I could muster, all the fear, pain and frustration I had ever felt went into those pictures. But how, as I said, could a mortal like myself match the dread and fury Goldie has? Praises to Lian Tanner, The absolute best, best, BEST author in the entire world. πŸ˜‰
