Museum of Thieves – the Brazilian Portuguese edition

August 8th, 2012

I love getting parcels, and this morning I got one containing two copies of Museum of Thieves – or rather, Museu de Ladroes. This is the Brazilian Portuguese edition, published in Brazil earlier this year – it’s the first time I’ve seen it.

The Brazilian Portuguese edition

Don’t you love ‘Os Defensores’? Sounds far more dramatic than The Keepers. And I love the first line of the story:

‘Goldie Roth detestava as correntes de castigo …’

I have yet to see the Bulgarian version, or the Thai or Chinese. Or the Indonesian or Turkish. I hope they turn up before too long.

If there are any Portuguese speakers out there who would like a copy, I have a spare one to give away.

Wow! That cover looks amazing! I love the border 🙂

    1. Lian says:

It looks good, doesn’t it, Mia. This is actually the same as the Australian cover (except for the foreign words, of course!) – the Australian publishers sold the book to Brazil. And that old-looking border is so nice.

    Hi Lian

I met you at Mount Nelson Primary School this Wednesday.
The name of tat series for that author I mentioned (Peter Hamilton) is the Void Trilogy. This is about the trilogy (from Wikipedia).
I hope you like it. Cheers Val
“The Void exists as a self-contained universe at the heart of the galaxy, studied by the Raiel for millions of years. The Raiel believe it to be a threat to all life in the galaxy due to its sporadic expansion phases that devour entire solar systems close to the core of the galaxy. One such event occurred several hundred thousand years prior to the time of the story which resulted in the Raiel creating the High Angel class of interstellar life boats designed to carry sentient civilizations away from danger should another expansion phase occur. The Raiel Warrior caste serve to protect the Void from any intrusions by beings of the galaxy as they believe it will trigger another expansion phase.
At some point at an undetermined time in the past, a human ship entered the void and seeded a civilization on a planet there.”
