Second ‘Path of Beasts’ giveaway – and a new pic of Goldie

August 3rd, 2012

This was a quick hand-dive into the hat at the end of a morning’s writing. And the winner of the second (and last for now) copy of Path of Beasts is …

Pushy!

Congratulations, Pushy, and commiserations to everyone else. That’s the trouble with giveaways – there can be so few winners. As a consolation prize, here’s the new picture of Goldie, as she appears in Book 3, drawn by Seb Ciaffaglione. Hasn’t she changed since those first tentative steps she took on her own at the beginning of Book 1? And just as well, because she’s about to face her greatest challenge yet …

Two months to go!

🙁 Oh well congrats to Pushy! The rest of us will have to wait for the last book in October. ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT!! So excited

    1. Lian says:

Me too, Jordyn. Dying to know what people think of it!

  3. Jordyn says:

Seb is a fantastic drawer! Goldie looks so different and AWESOME (DUH) 😛

    1. Lian says:

      Doesn’t she!

  4. Jordyn says:

Her and the picture of Toadspit together look amazing! Cannot wait to read what happens in Path of Beasts.

  5. Hannah says:

Congrats Pushy. I cannot believe how grown up Goldie looks! She looks a lot more strong, I also love her with that length of hair. It suits her.

    1. Lian says:

I agree, Hannah. I think Goldie has learned so much in the last few months, and it really shows. And you’re right – her hair is terrific!

Hi Lian! I have always wanted to be an author, and you set the PERFECT example for me! I am simply DYING to read the last book, and I think that the picture of Goldie looks amazing! She is so different from the first picture of her in the Museum of Thieves! She looks pretty, and almost elegant. I CAN’T wait to see the rest of the characters! (By the way, are there any uploaded images of Toadspit? Really looking forward to it!) I checked out the first two books from the school library, and it kept reminding me that I still have to wait 2 WHOLE months till the next ones come out! Thanks for capturing my imagination!

Hi Faene, I always really like hearing from people who want to write books. It’s such a deeply satisfying thing to do, so I’m very happy to set an example! I’m glad you like the pic of Goldie – I think the change in her since the first book is really interesting. And you’ll find a new pic of Toadspit here. Like Goldie, he looks pretty amazing. Which is just as well, because they have a very tough time ahead of them in third book …

I’m so very excited for “Path of Beasts”. Since I finished “City of Lies”, I’ve been waiting in anticipation for the next book, and it’s good to know that we won’t have to wait for too much longer!
I’m so happy that Seb Ciaffaglione is once again doing the illustrations. They really add a new dimension to the story and the characters. In fact, they suit your style of writing perfectly.
I would one day like to be a book illustrator.
Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful series. I feel that both the young and the old can lose themselves in your books, and let their imaginations be taken on a journey through this amazing world.

Hello Annalise, Thanks for your lovely comments about the books, and I agree completely about Seb’s illustrations. No author could ask for a better illustrator – and it’s always really exciting to see what he’ll come up with for the different characters. Interesting that you would like to be a book illustrator – I think it would be such a great job. If reincarnation exists, I would like to be an author/illustrator in my next life. Then I’d have the best of both worlds. 🙂 I think you’ll love Seb’s illustrations for Path of Beasts – and hopefully you’ll love the book too. It’s a pleasure to write them, and a delight to hear from readers like yourself.

Hello! I’m sorry for the delay in replying! Thank you so so much for posting the link to that picture of Toadspit! He looks so, I guess amazing would fit! He looks so much more mature, which I think suits him very well! Thank you again! As you can see, I am very hyper most of the time, so reading your books helps me to calm down and get lost in another world, forgetting everything except that which I am reading.

    1. Lian says:

Hello, Faene. I agree about how calming books are. They are also very comforting when things aren’t going well, don’t you think?

  9. Io says:

Will there be another path of beasts giveaway?

    1. Lian says:

      Don’t know. I haven’t planned one.
