APA Book Design Awards
February 25th, 2011
Here’s some nice news. The Australian edition of Museum of Thieves has been shortlisted for the Australian Publishers’ Association Book Design Awards in the Children’s Fiction Book category.
I’m very pleased, but not surprised. It’s a beautiful cover as you can see here, sort of old-fashioned and worn looking and mysterious, as if it has been hanging around on a dusty shelf for years.
It was designed by Josh Durham from Design by Committee, and the illustration is by Sebastian Ciaffaglione. Huge congratulations to both of them for the shortlisting.
And of course I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the cover of the second book, City of Lies.
Congratulations!
Thanks Romi. Though it’s a bit cheeky my accepting congratulations for this, because I had nothing whatsoever to do with the design. But I am happy to bask in Josh and Sebastian’s glory! 🙂

Anyhow, it wouldn’t be at all the same without your story behind it, they all make each other special and magically fantastic! I mean, imagine the cover without anything behind it… it just wouldn’t be right; and the guys who designed the cover wouldn’t have had the chance to do it without you!
Yes, that’s true. Okay, I shall bask even more in their glory! And take a teensy bit of it for myself.
congratulations.you have done well
