Last day for the competition!

February 19th, 2012

It’s Sunday morning here in Tasmania, and I’ve had some very exciting entries for the Keepers competition. I’d love to see more though, so if you haven’t got your entry in yet, you’d better get a move on. If you’re in Australia, this is the last day you can send it – by post or email. Of course it’s still Saturday evening in the US, so if you’re there, you’ve got a bit more time. But send it by midnight Sunday, wherever you are, for a chance at the prize.

In other news, this year is National Year of Reading in Australia, and I am a Reading Ambassador for Tasmania. More about this later, when we’ve got the competition out of the way.

AND did you know that March 7th is World Read Aloud Day? So here’s the question: Who are YOU going to read aloud to on that day?

Maybe someone much younger than yourself who can’t read, like a baby sister or a young cousin or a neighbour? Maybe your grandmother or grandfather or someone else much MUCH older than you, who’d love to listen to you? Or maybe someone who has a bit of trouble with reading and would like some help?

Does your teacher know about World Read Aloud Day? Why don’t you tell them, and ask if you and your friends can go to the kindergarten class and read to some of the little kids?

Do your parents know about World Read Aloud Day?? Tell them too! Maybe THEY’LL read aloud to YOU!! (Yes, I know you’re no longer a baby who needs to be read to, but sometimes it’s nice to do these things just for fun, even when you’re older.) Or maybe you can take it in turns, with everyone in the family reading aloud from their favourite book.

Let me know who you’re going to read aloud to. And on the day, if you can, take a photo and send it to me!

I’m going to read aloud to myself! Is that ok? SOmetimes I get a better picture by reading aloud to myself. Oh-no! The entries are closing! πŸ™ I haven’t sent in my entry yet!

    1. Lian says:

I know what you mean about getting a better picture when you read aloud, Lily. I feel the same. But if possible, I want you to find someone else to read aloud to as well. Think how much pleasure you will give to that person!

  2. Lenichi says:

Oh dear, I had it almost done. But then again I was sleeping over at a friends house for the past few days so I wouldn’t have been able to get it to you even if I finished it. Oh well, hope all the entries are nice!

    1. Lian says:

They’re terrific, Lenichi. But I’m sorry you didn’t get yours in in time.

    Hi Lian,
Why is it taking so long to post the winners up?

I’m sorry if you think that was a rude question it’s just that my friends and I are as impatient as Goldie. We wake up early and check and we come home from school and check and every time we say good bye we also say good luck for the competition.

    Please answer,

    Maeve

  4. Georgia says:

    1. Lian says:

I know I know! But it’s all your fault, all of you, for sending in such brilliant entries. πŸ˜€ I have been tearing my hair all week trying to decide on the winners. But I’m closing in on them, and the results will go up either today or tomorrow. I promise!

  6. Mia says:
