Path of Beasts – Toadspit

June 3rd, 2012

It’s almost exactly four months until the third book in the Keepers trilogy, Path of Beasts, comes out. So at the beginning of each month, between now and then, I’m going to put up either a picture or an extract from the book, to give you a taste of what’s coming.

We’ll start with Toadspit, who is one of my favourite characters. I think you’ll agree that Seb Ciaffaglione’s drawing of him for this new book is just wonderful. And take careful note of that sword, because Toadspit will be using it in a very important duel.

If you like reading interviews, have a look here. These are a few questions I answered recently as part of the 2012 Snapshot of Australian Speculative Fiction.

  10. Katie says:

Thank you so much Lian for creating such an incredible series! Toadspit is my favourite character, (he and Goldie would make such an adorable pair! He’s so handsome πŸ™‚ ) I absolutely love this series and i’m not prepared to finish the last book I don’t want to leave this fantastic world you have created! Oh I wish you could write more of this series, oh well, but thank you so much Lian your incredible and my idol!

    1. Lian says:

Katie, what a nice message to find waiting for me on a Saturday morning! I’m glad you like Toadspit so much – me too. πŸ™‚ I love the way he changes throughout the series, I love his loyalty and his courage and how, by the end, he’s always got Goldie’s back. I also agree on the sadness of a series coming to an end – it’s very hard to leave these characters behind. However – have you checked out the Hidden series yet, starting with ‘Ice Breaker’? If you do, I hope you love it just as much as the Keepers. And right now I’m starting another series – it’s under wraps at the moment, but if you keep an eye on my blog you will gradually find out more about it.

BTW, would you like some free bookplates? They don’t have Toadspit on them, but they do have little Broo and Morg. You can see them here. Just scroll down a bit.
